Zoom Math 1st Annual Back-to-School Indoor Picnic

An indoor picnic? Let's see: picnic baskets, red-checkered tablecloths, and...wait, a PowerPoint presentation?!

September 29, 2006 - Tustin, CA: I.Q. Joe celebrated the back-to-school season with its first annual Zoom Math indoor picnic. Reflecting the fun and friendly culture at I.Q. Joe, the picnic theme helped create the feeling of a relaxed gathering. With executives, employees, investors, customers, and friends, the mood was electric and the time spent was educational for all who attended.

Many of those on hand were the first ones to encourage and support Jeff Hatch, Founder and President of I.Q. Joe, when he spent six exhausting months in 2004 programming the first version of Zoom Math. The pleasure was evident on their faces to see how far the company has come with their support. If all that is required for building a great company is having a great team and amazing support, I.Q. Joe is destined for greatness.

The afternoon culminated in a presentation that began with a San Diego tutor who requires many of her clients to use Zoom Algebra. She captivated her audience with the emotional story of a special-needs student who came to her after having failed his high school exit exam four times. Special-needs students in California are permitted to use calculator software on their high school exit exams--and with Zoom Algebra on his calculator, this student finally passed his exam and received his high school diploma! This story reminded everyone who the real beneficiaries of Zoom Math's software are.

Needless to say, when Jeff Hatch was introduced, everyone wanted to hear what he had to say. Jeff told how he first became excited about graphing calculators while he was teaching math. His passion for creating helpful math tools eventually led him to leave his teaching job and begin creating calculator software. After Jeff, Rick and Vance each spoke, marketing consultant Kristi Roberts talked about the exciting future she sees for the I.Q. Joe team.
